赵碧丹出生于音乐世家，自幼随父亲学习小提琴，十四岁进入广州音乐学院攻读小提琴，师从汤龙先生。在赢取广州羊城花会小提琴比赛首奖和北京中国小提琴比赛第三奖后，赵碧丹于一九八一年远赴美国纽约朱莉亚音乐学院深造，师随著名小提琴家约瑟夫•费克思。 在纽约期间，赵碧丹是一位非常活耀的独奏和室内乐演奏家，经常演奏于纽约康尼基音乐厅、林肯中心和华盛顿甘迪中心，并曾应邀为南茜•里根夫人演出。于八一至八六年间的夏季，她获全费奖学金参与艾佛室内乐音乐节，与许多著名音乐家合作演奏室内乐，从而奠定了她广泛的室乐曲目和室乐的热爱。 赵碧丹于一九八七年获得朱莉亚音乐学院音乐学士和硕士学位后，前往香港担任管弦乐团第三副首席一职，并任教于香港浸会学院、香港中文大学、香港演艺学院。在港期间，她曾多次担任独奏与香港管弦乐团及多个亚洲主要管弦乐团合作，并是爱乐钢琴三重奏始创员之一和维多莉亚弦乐四重奏的创办者，赵碧丹以独奏和室乐演奏的形式，多次巡回亚洲演出，并应邀参与了所有的香港艺术节，包括香港艺术节、亚洲艺术节、现代音乐节等。她的独奏和室内乐音乐会常由香港电台现场转播。 赵碧丹目前任罗切斯特管弦乐团代理首席，经常应邀举行独奏音乐会。她创办了罗切斯特室内乐音乐会系列，以她对室内乐的热爱继续活跃于美国。 Beedarn Chao was born into a musical family and began violin studies with her father. At age fourteen, she entered the Canton Conservatory of Music in China and studied violin with Professor Tong Lung. After winning the top prizes in the Canton Violin Competition and the Beijing National Violin Competition, Beedarn furthered her musical training with renowned violinist Joseph Fuchs at the Juilliard School in New York. During her studies at Juilliard (1981-1987), Beedarn was an active soloist and chamber musician and performed many concerts including those at the Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, where she made a solo appearance for Nancy Reagan. In the summers of 1982-1985, she received full scholarships to participate in the Alfred Chamber Music Festival. Performing with many outstanding musicians in the festival greatly enhanced her passion for chamber music and subsequently established her repertoire. After receiving her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Juilliard School, Beedarn pursued her musical career in Hong Kong. She was an associate concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, and a faculty member of the Hong Kong Baptist College, the Hong Kong Chinese University and the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. She frequently appeared as soloist with many major orchestras in the Southeastern Asia. As the founding member of the Canzone Piano Trio and the Victoria String Quartet in Hong Kong, Beedarn performed as soloist and chamber musician in all the major music festivals in Hong Kong including the International Arts Festival, the Asian Arts Festival and the Contemporary Music Festival. Many of her performances were broadcasted by RTHK. Beedarn is currently the acting concertmaster of the Rochester Orchestra and Chorale and founder of the Rochester Chamber Music Series. She maintained a busy schedule with teaching and giving solo and chamber concerts throughout the United States. Beedarn plays a 1986 violin made by Philip Perret modeled after Guarneri.
